LAS FIESTAS

La Navidad es una fiesta muy importante en todas las culturas de origen cristiano. En los países de habla española se celebra la Nochebuena, el 24 de diciembre, con una gran cena familiar. En España se come pavo, cordero, y de postre, turrón, un dulce típico navideño. Al día siguiente es Navidad, otro día de fiesta y de reunión familiar. En estas fiestas, especialmente los más pequeños, cantan muchos villancicos y tocan la pandereta.

En Nochevieja, el 31 de diciembre, se celebra la llegada del año nuevo con las doce uvas de la suerte, una por cada campanada del reloj de la ciudad.

The Niemeyer Centre

Some days ago, our students from 2nd O.S.E. posted a video where you could see the old town. Now, let me show you our most modern building. As you can appreciate, Avilés is a city of contrasts!

Our school, KSG

 

The enrolment at Karleby Svenska Gymnasium (Upper Secondary School): 130 students (430 students altogether with the Secondary School).

Teaching Staff: 45 teachers altogether with the Secondary School)

Principal: Bernt Klockars.

Karleby Svenska Gymnasium is situated in the same premises as Donnerska skolan (the Secondary School). The school celebrated its 150th anniversary in September, 2011.

The Upper Secondary School offers 243 courses during the school year. The school year is divided into six six-week periods, and the subjects taught are divided into courses. The courses are obligatory or optional as stated in the school syllabus. Students have a choice as to the optional courses. They are given the menu, from which they take their pick, which makes their individual timetable. The Upper Secondary School in Finland is 3-4 year school; the student´s choice of subjects is the determining factor. By the end the students must have completed a minimum of 75 courses, after which they take the national final examination, the Matriculation Examination in, at least, 4 subjects.

Students may choose subjects from a number of other schools and institutes, which enables them to perform vocational studies in addition to their general studies.

Our school, specializing in internationalism, entrepreneurship and a wide range of languages (English, German, French, Spanish and Russian) aims to promote a very good general education. The school is participating in a number of projects which aim to improve teaching methods, experiment new approaches, enhance communication skills and promote language proficiency.

¡Hola! Me llamo Samuel, tengo 17 años, soy muy deportista, juego al baloncesto, pero me gusta todo tipo de deportes. Vivo con mi madre, mi padre y mis dos hermanas; tienen 15 y 19 años y tengo dos hermanos; tienen 21 y 23 años pero ellos ya no viven en casa. También tengo dos perros y un gato en casa. ¡Hola! Me llamo Hanna y tengo 17 años. Tengo tres hermanos, todos son hermanos pequeños. Mis padres están divorciados y por eso vivo a veces con mi padre y mi madrastra, y a veces con mi madre y mi padrastro. Soy una chica social y alegre. Me gusta escuhar música, bailar y viajar. ¡Hola! Me llamo Sophia y tengo 16 años. Vivo con mis padres y mis dos hermanitos de cinco y doce años a las afueras de Kokkola. En mi tiempo libre hago un poco de todo, juego golf, bailo zumba y hago body... ademas soy árbitro de fútbol y profesora de gimnasia para niños.
Amo los idiomas, las diferentes culturas, pero más que nada amo viajar. He ido bastantes veces a España, pero nunca por vuestra región, asi que será interesante ir para alla.

¡Hola! :D Me llamo Rebecca, y mi apodo es Repe. Tengo 16 años, pero tengo 17 en enero. Tengo tres hermanos mayores, Tomi, Markus y Benjamin, pero vivo con mi madre y Benjamin, que tiene 18 años. Me gusta hacer fotos, escuchar música, viajar, hacer ejercicio y mucho más. Me gusta la naturaleza y los gatos también. En mi tiempo libre estoy con mis amigos y bailo streetdance. ¡Hola! Me llamo Nina y tengo 16 años. Soy una chica muy social, amable y habladora. Vivo con mi padre, mi madre y con mi hermano menor. Tengo un perro también, se llama Turo. Me gustan mucho los animales. En mi tiempo libre estoy con mis amigos, mis amigos son muy importantes para mí. ¡Chau! Me llamo Cecilia y tengo 16 años. Vivo con mi padre, mi madre y con mi hermano en un casa grande, bastante cerca del centro. Mi hermano Robin tiene 13 años. Tengo un perro tambien, se llama Candy.
Juego al futból y soy muy deportista. Me gusta el snowboarding, ir de compras y viajar. Me gusta estar con mis amigos también. Soy muy alegre, amable y social. Soy morena, tengo pelo largo y tengo ojos marrones. Quiero llegar a ser abogado. Yo estoy muy entusiasmada con este intercambio! ¡Hasta luego!

 

 



ERICA MÄKI-ULLAKKO

¡Hola! Me llamo Erica y tengo 16 años, pero mi cumpleaños es el 1 de abril . Soy una chica muy feliz y social. Juego al fútbol y me gusta mucho todo tipo de deportes. Soy muy deportista. Tengo dos hermanos, Kaj y Mikko pero ellos no viven en casa, viven cerca la capital de Finlandia. Tengo tambien una hermana, Hanna. Tiene 13 anos y vive en casa. No tengo animales. En mi tiempo libre practico deporte, fútbol o estoy con mi amigos. Me gusta mucho ir de compras y en invierno me gusta esquiar. Me gusta también sacar fotos, es muy interesante y divertido. He viajado dos veces a España; a Gran Canaria y Barcelona. ¡Me gusta mucho Barcelona! ¿Como estáis en Avilés? En Finlandia hace bastante frio. Soy instructora de un grupo de baile para niños. Me gusta el clima cálido y el sol. He estado muchas veces en el sur de España porque mis abuelos tienen una casita en Fuengirola. Tengo muchos amigos y me gusta viajar. No tengo animales en mi casa porque soy alérgica a los animales. Tengo dos hermanas, una hermana mayor que tiene 19 años y una hermana menor que tiene 10 años. "Hi there everybody! My name is Elio and I’m really excited with this exchange, I’ve
never been to Finland but I think is an incredible country so I’m fascinated with this
project.

About me?... Well, I’m a 16 years old teenager (but I’ll meet you with already 17) who
loves hanging out with friends, playing videogames, drawing fan-art and above all,
listening to music: classical, rock, ska-punk, hardstyle, hard-trance and Asturian Celtic
music (I play the Asturian bagpipe as well).

I like my lifestyle, busy, but joyful. I live with my mother and she’s always working
so I’ve the entire house just for me, at least when I’m not studying. I live in a flat in
one of the quietest parts of the city therefore I can play the bagpipe every time I want.
Sometimes I hang out with my closest friends or I go to San Frenando’s theatre club and
practise my roleplay for the school’s play on March."

My family is compound by my father ,Fernando,my mother ,Mª José, and me .We live in a flat in Avilés,a city in the north of Asturias ,a community in northern Spain.

"Hi,my name is Borja and i´m fifteen years old. I live with my parents and my brother, and i´ve got a dog. I like watching TV, listening to music, going out with my friends,... My favourite sports are padel and waterskiing. I train padel at the school, and I practise waterskiing in the summer.

My name is Paula, I'm 15 and my b-day is on the 9th of April so If you're reading this and you're going to come to my house.. you'll eat chocolate cake and maybe celebrate my 16 with my family. I know it's a bit embarrassing but it will be fun! Anyway I hope you'll really love Avilés and Asturias too. My family is compound by my dad, Juan Carlos who´s a veterinary, My mum's called Isabel and she's a nurse and my sister, called María is working at my dad's animal shop.

"Hi! My name is Sara and I´m 14 years old. I live in Avilés with my parents in a big apartment near the center of my village.

I´ve got long straight hair, brown eyes and I´m not very tall and not very short. I´m friendly, cheerful and optimistic.

In my free time, I really like going out with friends, listening to music, going to the cinema, playing paddel-tennis and travelling.

María

"My name is María; I’m a fifteen-year-old teenager, turning sixteen on the 2^nd February. I’m studying 4^th of OSE in San Fernando school, which is located in Avilés, the city where I live, in the region of Asturias, a community northern Spain.

My family is compound by my mother, who is a doctor in the main Hospital of Avilés; my father, who is a GP, and works in a small health centre in the outskirts of my town; then there are my two brothers; one older than me, who is called Manuel, he is 19 years old and he is studying industrial engineer at university; and the other one, my little brother, who’s called Jorge, he is almost 10 years old and he is studying 5^th of primary in a rural school called CRA.

I do have many hobbies, I am ballet dancer, I guess just an amateur, but I’m preparing the Intermediate exam of the Royal Academy of Dance. In winter I usually go skiing with my family and school to France, and it is great fun. On the other hand, in summer, I go surfing with my brother or some friends, I’m really keen on surfing but I still have to improve my technique. And my big passion is decorating cakes, cupcakes and cookies and trying to bake new recipes. Then in my free time I also watch some TV or any movie, listen to music and I sometimes read some books. At the weekend I hang out with my friends and I often go with them shopping."

"Hi! I'm Marina and i'm so excited for writing to you. I really want to go to Finland because I love travelling around the world and I think that it is important to practise and improve my English. I like reading, going out and making new friends, so I think it will be great spending 10 days in Finland. I enjoy listening to music and playing the cello too.

"I’m a teenager who likes having a nice time with his friends or doing sports. I’m also an outgoing person and I enjoy meeting people and making new friends. I’m an only child and I don’t have any pets (because my parents don’t let me!). I prefer practising sports than studying (obviously) but I know it is really important and for that reason I try my best.

As I said I love sports. I usually play paddle in my free time and I sometimes play golf at the weekends, but my favourite sport is tennis which I have been playing for a long time."

"Hi, my name is Emilio. I’m 15 and my birthday is on the 11th of January. So I am a Capricorn, but I don´t really believe in those superstitious things. I think I´m a nice person, who can sometimes be the laziest in the world or be an incredibly active person. In general I like sports, such as football, volleyball or badminton.  This last one in special, I´ve practiced it for 5 years. I like listening to almost every kind of music. The groups I like the most are Aerosmith and Bon Jovi. They can make me happy. One important thing about me is that I always try to be optimistic.
